
👇 This course is the fifth course and it is called Create High-Fidelity Designs and Prototypes in Figma, and it has 4 (four) peer-graded assignments. It is also the only course which contains six weeks.
During this course, you will take all the principles and other things you studied during other courses into practice, and you will make hi-fi designs. For more about this course, check out the weeks. If you have a question check out the FAQs.

Week One

Module One
In this module, you will be introduced to the course, you will also be given an optional test to test your knowledge of prior concepts. And Kunal who is the course instructor, will introduce himself and share his story with you.
Module Two
In this module, they will teach how some fundamentals of creating mockups, and Chikezie ( a designer at Google) will teach you how to make the transition from lo-fi designs to hi-fi designs
Module Three
In this module, you will be taught the foundational elements of visual design, and then Typography in UX design and The importance of typography.
Tip:
Take as many notes as possible, and try searching for more courses about Typography. Typography is king. Check out this blog of mine for more.
Module Four
In this module, you will be taught Color in UX design, then they will teach you how work with color in mockups and then Accessibility considerations for color.
Tip:
Color Theory is one of the most important principles of design, if not THE most important. So take as many notes as possible, and check out this blog of mine for more resources.
Module Five
In this module, they will teach you Iconography in UX design then you will work with icons in the mockup. You will also learn about more visual design elements, then Add images to your mockups and find stock images for your mockup and finally they will teach you about additional design considerations.
Tip:
The icons are what differentiates design from other plain texts, so take as many notes as possible.
Module Seven
In this module, they will introduce you to layout and you will learn how to use grids to guide layouts. After that you will Use containment in layouts.
Tip:
Grids and layouts are crucial in design, so learn more about them.
Module Eight
In this module, they will teach how to use negative (white) space in layouts, and finally, you will learn Common design patterns in apps. And finally, you will say goodbye to this week and submit your assignment (apply foundational elements of visual design to your portfolio project mockups)
Week Two
💡 , Congrats on finishing the first week, it is the longest week in this course. This week (week 2) has 3 (three) modules. This week is all about applying visual design principles to your mockups. Check out the modules for more.
Module One
Part one of applying visual design principles to your mockups. -
In this module, you will be introduced to the course, they will also teach you about Emphasis in UX design, then you will use emphasis in mockups, and you will also be taught about Hierarchy in UX design and finally, you will use hierarchy in mockups.
Tip:
Hierarchy and design principles are important and you will thank yourself later if you learn them earlier in your career, take your time and research them and apply them to your every design.
Module Two
Part two of applying visual design principles to your mockups. In this module, they will teach how about scale and proportion in UX design, then you will use scale and proportion in mockups. Not only that but you will also learn unity and variety in UX design and finally you will use unity and variety in mockups.
Module Three
In this module, you will refine mockup designs. You will apply Gestalt Principles to mockups and then learn about additional Gestalt Principles, after that you will learn about interface design principles and consider additional visual design elements and principles, and finally reflect on your progress and submit your assignment (refine your portfolio project mockup).
Week Three

Module One
In this module, you will be introduced to the course and design systems, they will also teach you about the benefits of design systems. Then they will teach you how to use a number of design systems including Google’s design system: Material Design Shopify’s design system: Polaris and then you will explore popular design systems.
One way to explore design systems is to check out some popular examples you’ve likely experienced while using an app or a website, such as:
- Google’s Material Design
- Shopify’s Design System Polaris
- Apple Human Interface Guidelines
- Microsoft Fluent Design System
- AirBnb’s Design System
- U.S. Web Design System, a design system for the U.S. federal government
Tip:
Design systems are really what differentiates great designers from newbies, they show that you are serious about your design and that your design is consistent. I do not have a course about this in mind, but check out a Figma playlist on YouTube called Office Hours. Or give me a message in case I figure out one later.
Module Two
In this module, they will teach how create a sticker sheet in Figma.
Module Three
In this final module, you will Use a design system library in Figma and then Get inspiration from design systems after that Shabi will teach you how to Consider assistive technologies when working in design systems and finally you will answer the questions of the weekly test (Explore design systems). There is peer no peer-graded assignments this week.
Week Four
💡 Congrats on finishing the third week. This week (week 4) has 4 (four) modules. This week is all about giving and receiving feedback as UX designers. Check out the modules for more.
Module One
In this module, you will be introduced to the course and you will be taught how to give and receive feedback as a UX designer.
Module Two
In this module, they will teach you the basics of design critique sessions, then the best practices for design critique sessions, then you will learn more about design critique sessions and Kunal ( the instructor ) will teach you his experience with design critique sessions.
Module Three
In this module, you will take an introduction to a mock crit session, then observe a mock crit session.
Module Three
In this final module, you will turn crit session feedback into actions, then iterate on mockups based on feedback from crit sessions and finally you will answer the questions of the weekly test (Explore design systems). There are peer no peer-graded assignments this week.
Week Five
💡 Congrats on finishing the forth week. This week (week 5) has 2 (two) modules. Check out the modules for more.
Module One
In this module, you will be introduced to the course and you will be given an Introduction to high-fidelity prototypes, then you will create a high-fidelity prototype in Figma.
Tip:
Prototypes are a headache, nevertheless so important. Check out an Instructor on Skillshare called Bruno Saez Lopes. And make him your best friend. Check out this article of mine on how to get two free months on Skillshare.
Module Three
In this final module, you will learn gestures and motion and it is typed in UX design, then you will Add gestures and motion in Figma, then you will be taught accessibility considerations for gestures, then Jen ( designer at Google) will teach you how to design with accessibility in mind, then Figma team will teach you Prototype interactions and feedback, then you will read additional ways to enhance high-fidelity prototypes and finally, you will say good-bye to this week and submit your assignment (Create a high-fidelity prototype for your portfolio project)
Week Six
💡 Congrats on finishing the fifth week and welcome to the last week. This week (week 6) has 5 (five) modules. This week is all about usability study. Check out the modules for more.
Module One
In this module, you will be introduced to the course and then will be taught how to plan a UX research study then you will read more about planning a UX research study.
Module Two
In this module, you will learn how to conduct a usability study and then learn more about conducting a usability study
Module Three
In this module, you will analyze and synthesize usability study results then learn more about analyzing and synthesizing usability study results
Module Four
In this module, you will Iterate on high-fidelity designs and then learn more about identifying when a design is complete
Module Five
In this final module, you will document and share designs, then Hand off designs for production then you will learn from Figma team how to prepare for handoff and then create a case study for your portfolio project and finally, you will say good-bye to this week and submit your assignment (Create a case study for your portfolio).
And that is it, you now have completed the fifth course of the specialization.
